Rectangular planters have many advantages that make them a popular choice with our customers. First of all, the narrow rectangular shape allows you to line the entire front or wall of your business with planters, while taking up less space than round or square planters with similar volume. Many store fronts have limited area to display plants. Our rectangular planters take up less than two feet of floor space depth. What is a Self-Watering Planter?

A self watering planter is a planter or pot that keeps your plants watered, usually for 1-3 weeks, without the need for daily watering. Self watering planters have a water reservoir at the bottom of the planter that feeds the plant from the bottom up. The wicking chambers allow water from the reservoir to deliver a consistent level of moisture directly to the root system, ensuring optimal plant growth. Simply fill the planters with a garden hose once every couple of weeks and your plants will stay adequately watered, even in the hottest months of the year.

Bottom watering planters – So what exactly are bottom watering planters? Traditionally, plants are watered from the top and water is sprayed on the leaves, stem and the parts of the plant that are above the surface. However, as you likely know, plants draw in essentially all of their water from their roots. Watering plants from the top is still somewhat effective because the water sprayed on the plant ends up falling down into the soil and then it is drawn up into the plant via the roots. But when the watering is done from above the plant, some of the water is lost in the process, as leaves actually repel water and some water runs off into areas where it can’t be used by the plant.

On the other hand, bottom watering of a plant delivers the water much closer to the roots without the same spray-off and waste. It also delivers a more consistent and gradual supply of water. Bottom watering of plants allows plants to absorb the right amount of water without drenching their leaves and overwatering. With bottom watering, the roots will get enough water, which often is not the case with top watering. It also has been proven to make the root stronger and allows them to grow directly toward the moisture.
